Thierry Costesèque | Artist Residency
OPEN HOUSE Thursday, April 21; 6-8pm Friday, April 22; 10am - 8pm Zico House is pleased to present the work of Thierry Costesèque Artist in Residence from April 11-22. Using conversations and interactions as the foundation for his process-based work, Costesèque is creating a installation during his residency, that uses documentation of public performances that took place New York and Beirut, collaged local media pieces that tell narratives and found objects that had been the center of conversations during the residency. Influenced by his personal history, Costesèque explores cultural divides and individual stories through the lens of larger histories including colonialism. Thierry Costesèque was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1970. He graduated from the National School for Fine Arts of Paris in 1994, and since 2010, he lives and works in and around Paris. Represented by the Eric Dupont gallery in Paris, Costesèque’s recent work has featured at conferences and in publications at the Tate Modern and ESACM. Last year his works were shown in France and around the world, notably at the Viewing Program of the Drawing Center in New York and in the framework of the McCormack and Gent Curatorial Project in London. In 2013, he was awarded a research grant from the Rothschild Foundation (FNAGP) for his latest project Western, shown at Creux de l’enfer.
